In 2002, Senator Daniel K. Inouye of Hawaii was honored for his support of military nursing and military nursing research at Advance Nursing Practice Excellence: State of the Science, a conference held in Washington, DC. In a videotaped ceremony, BG Barbara Brannon, BG William Bester, and RADM Nancy Lescavag presented Senator Inouye with a crystal award etched with the three Nurse Corps insignias.
