- 1. Bylaws Committee:

The goal of the Bylaws Committee is to write PFA Bylaws (based on NIH FelCom) and work toward ratification by PFA general assembly.
- 2. Seminars & Career Development Joint Committe:

The goal of the Seminars & Career Development Joint Committee is to educate USU postdoctoral fellows regarding scientific career opportunities. This committee also provides fellows with information regarding survival skills for their post-graduate work as well as skills needed for making the transition from training positions to various professional areas of interest. This will include organizing/coordinating workshops on grantsmanship, scientific writing, job searching/negotiating, etc. This committee works closely with the USU FelCom representative to ensure that the USU postdoctoral fellows are aware of the career development resources available to USU fellows at the NIH including FelCom seminars. This committee is also responsible for bringing outside speakers, faculty and postdoc seminars, journal clubs, advertising for seminars around campus given by postdocs, sate of art seminar series and Working with Grad Ed and the Office of Research to organize USU Research Week Postdoctoral Symposium.

The goal of the Information Clearinghouse Committee is to establish and maintain resources to aid USU fellows in finding information pertinent to postdoctoral training at USU. This committee works with administration to keep PFA website updated, FAQs, Postdoc Manual, technical skills inventory of postdocs in PFA to be posted on website and establishing and maintaining a postdoc listserv.
- 4. Scientific Training Committee

The goal of the Scientific Training Committee is to provide opportunities for USU fellows to obtain new scientific skills such as Pubmed, EndNote, Excel, Graphing Programs etc. These goals are accomplished through mini-courses, workshops, equipment demonstrations or mentoring programs.
- 5. Postdoc Orientation Committee

The goal of the Postdoc Orientation Committee is to provide pertinent information to incoming USU postdoctoral fellows. The committee will welcome incoming postdocs, provide information concerning the USU PFA and encourage postdoc participation in the USU PFA. This committee will work closely with the Information Clearinghouse Committee to create a postdoctoral fellows manual for incoming USU fellows.

The goal of the Networking Committee is to promote professional and social interactions between current and former USU postdoctoral fellows. The committee will accomplish this through social events (coffee hours, group lunchtimes, etc), community service events, the development of special interest groups and the use of online resources. This committee is also responsible for getting in touch with and keeping track of former postdocs. This committee will also work closely with the USU FelCom representative to promote networking between USU and NIH fellows.
- 7. Liaison to Administration and Faculty Committee

The goal of Liaison to Administration and Faculty Committee is to provide regular and effective communication between USU postdoctoral fellows and the USU faculty and administration. This committee will present issues, grievances and suggestions from fellows to program directors, mentors, faculty and the administration in a productive and professional manner. Additionally, this committee will ensure postdoctoral representation on appropriate University-wide committees. Members from this committee will attend faculty senate meetings and other USU committees that deal with issues affecting postdoctoral training and disseminate pertinent information to the USU PFA membership.

The goal of the Seminar Committee is to provide opportunities for USU fellows to speak about their work or to bring in outside speakers of general interest. This committee will also organize the USU Research Week Postdoctoral Fellows Association Symposium.

The goal of the Community Outreach Committee is to assist USU fellows in reaching out to the community at large. Activities of this committee may include organizing science fair judges, or mentoring/tutoring local students.
- 10. Public Relations Committee

The goal of the Public Relations Committee is to advertise both the USU PFA and PFA-sponsored events/activities. This committee will provide articles for the USU Newsletter and advertise PFA events both electronically in print. This committee will also update the USU PFA logo as necessary.
