Medical Psychology Ph.D. Program [Civilian or Military Students]
The Ph.D. program in Medical Psychology began in 1979 and graduated its first students in 1984. This nationally known program focuses on biobehavioral research (human and animal). Graduates of the Medical Psychology Ph.D. program have gone on to successful and productive careers as university, college, and medical school faculty; scientists in public and private settings; health policy makers; and scientific administrators. Many of these graduates have won national awards for their research contributions.
Medical and Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Program [Civilian Students]
The PhD program in Clinical Psychology began in the early 1990s and trains psychologists to provide clinical service in the military. This program follows a scientist-practitioner model with a focus on application and training in clinical psychology, medical psychology, and military psychology. It is accredited by the American Psychological Association. Graduates of this program are required to serve in the armed forces. After retirement form the armed forces, graduates of this program have gone on to careers as health-care providers, educators, and scientific and health-care administrators.
