Welcome to the Medical and Clinical Psychology (MPS) Department at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU)
Since its inception in 1978, the faculty, students, and research staff at our department have studied the role of behavior, cognition, and motivation in physical and mental health. Our department offers the following degrees: (1) Ph.D. in Medical Psychology [open to civilian and military students] that focuses on biobehavioral research, (2) Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology [military students] that focuses on clinical practice and research relevant to military populations, dependents, and veterans, and (3) Ph.D. in Medical and Clinical Psychology [open to civilian students] that focuses on biobehavioral research and evidence-based clinical research and practice.
News and Events
Dr. Marjan Holloway has received funding from the Military Operational Medicine Research Program to conduct a multi-site study on a brief safety planning intervention for suicidal military service members and veterans. The research will be conducted in collaboration with four research institutions: Columbia University, Canandaigua VA, Denver VA, and the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Marjan Holloway won the 2009 Cinda Helke Graduate Student Advocacy Award.
Dr. Marian Tanofsky-Kraff received a Bench-to-Bedside Research Award from the NIH to fund research studying genetics of eating in the absence of hunger.
Dr. Michael Feuerstein recently (2009) published a new book entitled, Work and cancer survivors, Springer Publ.
