Field Training Exercise 401

Operation Bushmaster

FTX 401: This field exercise is a combination of Military Contingency Medicine (10 days of didactic preparation and Lab) and Operation Bushmaster (5 days of field operation in a simulated deployment environment). The combination of medical/military preparation and field medical application provides SOM students with a challenging and energizing experience which will prepare them to perform the required duties of a field doctor and a Military Medical Officer. The physical, mental and educational scenarios presented and assessed during the simulated deployment test the student's four-year preparation as well as provide in-depth feedback for individual growth and self -improvement. Operation Bushmaster is the capstone event of the SOM student's fourth and final year at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences.

International Student Participants must attend MCM and are accepted during Bushmaster Round 1 only (Oct 13-19, 2012). Student and Faculty applications must be submitted by August 17, 2012 for consideration. Students must be able to arrive at NNMC for in-processing by September 27, 2012.
