Field Training Exercise 101

TBD & Casualty Context Experience

  • 17-20 October

FTX 101: Introduction to Operational Medicine is the Department of Military and Emergency Medicine's first Field Training Exercise (FTX) and is designed to introduce new SOM students to operational activities and field training. The 10-day course is physically challenging and provides opportunities to develop leadership skills, learn basic military procedures, become familiar with weapons, tactical strategies as well as participate in the patient contextual experience role playing as a casualty for the Bushmaster FTX. The underlying premise of FTX 101 is to develop class camaraderie and the foundations for becoming a Military Medical Officer.

International Student Participants are accepted during Round 1 only (Oct 13-19, 2012). Applications must be submitted by April 17, 2012 for consideration. Students must be able to arrive at NNMC for in-processing by October 11, 2012.
