Clinical Correlates for Advanced Practice Nurses is a foundational course required for students during their first 10-week summer semester. This course challenges the student's critical thinking and problem solving abilities as they apply to acute and chronic health conditions of individuals and their families both in clinic settings and the operational environment. The purpose of this course is to refine the student's clinical assessment and documentation skills for use in their first clinical experience as advanced practice nurses. This course introduces effective communication skills for interviewing patients as well as consultation with interdisciplinary health care providers. The student develops the assessment knowledge and performance foundations necessary for advanced practice roles and learns teaching principles used to educate patients.
