Advanced Principles in Gynecology

This course builds upon prerequisite courses, providing the knowledge and skills necessary for the student to further incorporate principles of pharmacology, pathophysiology and concepts of family systems, while caring for women with common gynecologic conditions. The focus of this course is identification of patient problems, development of differential diagnosis and integration of clinical decision making to appropriately manage common gynecologic conditions in women from early adolescence throughout the life span. Health promotion, preventive care, and patient education are emphasized as an important means to improve patient outcomes. In addition, operational gynecology is introduced, centering on deployment and readiness issues related to women's health.
