Clerkship Period

Development of the Clerkship period involves adding new sites for our clerkship rotations as well as additional spots for students and for new faculty. Proposed new sites or those being considered in order to accommodate our students: New Sites

The upcoming year, where the two curriculums will be overlapping, presents some additional challenges which are being addressed as shown in the documents linked below:

We are also developing a Common Passport of experiences and procedures which each student will be expected to master before the end of the core clerkships. The document on horizontal threads in the curriculum shows where in each rotation students will have an opportunity to fulfill the requirements for each item on the passport. Initial Common Passport

Post-Clerkship Period

The Post-Clerkship phase is taking shape. Exciting developments include:

Bench to Bedside and Beyond. This 8 week period of instruction will mirror the modular construct of the Pre-Clerkship. Students will be challenged to incorporate advanced clinical and basic science concepts as they continue to learn to care for those in harm's way.

Capstone Project. A cohort of students in the Class of 2015 will be selected to perform a longitudinal project of advanced scientific inquiry. These projects will include basic (bench) research, clinical projects, performance improvement projects, operational studies and other public health projects.

Advanced Electives. Students will continue to have opportunities to participate in advanced elective opportunities to further explore areas of medicine where they intend to practice.
