Curriculum Reform News Bulletin

Our bulletin was designed to give condensed updates of the most current activity in the curriculum reform effort during 2011. This was an approximately bi-weekly update that kept the USU community informed of the progress being made.

Town Hall Meeting

The most recent update on the USU Curriculum Reform project was presented to faculty and staff on March 28, 2011. Dean Laughlin addressed the group and then each committee chair discussed the highlights of what has been done so far in their area of the curriculum. A newly updated timeline showed the progress that has been made recently and what deadlines will be coming up in the next few months. The slide presentation and an audio file of the session can be accessed on our Media and Presentations page:

Curriculum Reform in the USU Newsletter

Dr. Jeffery Miller's discussion on the curriculum reform process at UCLA is highlighted in the May 10, 2011 issue of "The Pulse." Dr. Miller spoke at USU in April and shared his experiences as he moved from one who was initially against the reform to one who embraced the results. His thoughts on the problems encountered along the way and the ultimate benefits of the reform are timely for our faculty and students.

The February 21, 2011 issue of the official USU newsletter, "The Pulse," features an article on the Q&A from the most recent Town Hall meeting on January 10, including descriptions of the major changes, grading system, and detailed layout of the new curriculum. Additional information is provided on some of the highlights of the new curriculum. Faculty members and students continue to provide valuable input to this process. The November 8, 2010 issue of "The Pulse," includes a front-page article on the who, what, where, when and why of the curriculum reform effort here at USUHS.
