SGRIP:
The USUCHD Summer Graduate Research Internship Program (SGRIP) is a 12 week, on-site, research experience designed to orient graduate students from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds to the area of health and health care disparities. These graduate students are usually in the process of pursuing advanced degrees in public health, the behavioral or biomedical sciences, or related health care fields. The program involves orienting the student(s) to the operations of the Center, the Center's research interests as well as those of the USU Medical/Clinical Psychology faculty, and developing a plan to complete a scholarly project related to current Center activities, or anticipated initiatives. The student(s) receive regular mentoring from the Center's faculty in order to ensure significant learning and the successful completion of the summer project. The graduate student(s) also co-lead the undergraduate Internship seminars with Center faculty, and liaison with, and mentor the undergraduate interns. While any student may apply for acceptance into this program, preference will be given to disadvantaged students as that term is used by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).
